تعریف
تقلب کارت اعتباری زمانی رخ می دهد که (کلاهبردار یا دزد) از کارت اعتباری سرقت شده فرد یا اطلاعات این کارت برای خریدهای غیرمجاز به نام فرد ذی‌ربط و یا از حساب فرد برای برداشت وجوه نقد استفاده می‌کند. تقلب کارت اعتباری نوعی سرقت هویت است. سارقان از بخشی از هویت (یعنی اطلاعات کارت اعتباری) افراد برای خریدهای کلاهبرداری یا برای دسترسی به وجوه نقد استفاده می‌کنند.
